Welcome back to The Read, Do, & Tell Podcast!
Today, Amy and I are discussing arguably the number 1 misquoted New Testament verse from the Bible: Matthew 7:1. “Do not judge…”

Episode 34: Did Jesus Really Say Not to Judge?
Did Jesus really tell us not to judge? If so, why does He tell us TO judge multiple times later in that very same chapter of Matthew 7?
Is Jesus contradicting Himself here? What exactly is going on?
First, we want to remind you and ourselves that when ANYONE quotes a verse, it’s always a good practice to go back and read the verse (or in this case, PART of the verse) in its context.
Every verse of the Bible is in a paragraph, which is in a passage, which is in a Book of the Bible. It logically flows that every verse is in the Bible!
Our interpretation or application of a verse must always align with the context. If our interpretation or application doesn’t align with other passages in the Bible, our interpretation or application is off.
In this episode, Amy and I are discussing the context of Matthew 7:1 and how we should carefully interpret and apply Jesus’ words about judging. I hope it will be encouraging and challenging to you as we read, do, and tell the Word of the Lord!
