The Importance of Bible Prophecy
Prophecy. It’s one of those words that makes some believers (and even preachers) cringe.
Maybe it seems that no one can agree around the subject of prophecy and that scares some away. “Prophecy causes too many arguments,” I’ve heard some state. After all, many smart Christians argue and debate over end-time prophecies. It seems that what people think could start a world war at times!
Whether we want to face it or not, prophecy makes up about one-third of the Bible. One-third. That’s huge! Simply put, Bible prophecy cannot be ignored. And I would argue it SHOULD NOT be ignored.
Here are three quick reasons why:
- Bible prophecy separates the Bible from every other “holy book” in the world. It is something God has given us to verify His Word is TRUE!
- Bible prophecy helps us see that our faith is NOT a blind faith. We can test prophecies to see that God’s Word is TRUE!
- We can know that Jesus is who He claimed to be, the Messiah and Son of God, based on His fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies.
Bible Prophecy Scavenger Hunts
Make Bible prophecy interactive with these this FREE resource! In this pack, you’ll find a Bible prophecy chart, and Bible prophecy scavenger hunts for Christmas, Easter, and any time!
Prep It:
- Cut out the wall cards.
- Either hide them around the room/your house or simply tape them to different walls. The level of difficulty you want to add to the search is up to you!
- Print the recording sheets. Either give each child a recording sheet or let kids pair up to tackle the activity. Each child/pair should also have a pencil or pen to record their answers.
- Read the “Why Bible Prophecy Matter” pages as an introduction.

Play It:
- Learners look at a space on their recording sheet. They read the description (and look up the New Testament Bible reference as a hint).
- Once they understand it, they search around the room/your house for the Old Testament prophecy that matches the New Testament fulfillment.
- When they find it, they fill in the OT reference (the book of the Bible, the chapter, and the verse) in the blank beside “OT.”
- Once completed, they can check their answers against the answer key.
- Afterwards, talk about each prophecy.
As Colossians 2:6-8 says, let’s raise rooted disciples for Him!
